The original idea and interest in the subject matter came out of Wayne's realization that he indeed was growing older and that someday soon he would be a grandfather. What began as a selfish need to avoid becoming a curmudgeonly, doddering old fool is quickly turning into a mission of mercy for his fellow Boomers and members of the Silent and Greatest generations.
